We are a vocal and instrumental ensemble based in Toronto. Under the director of our energetic Irish Music Director, Kevin Mallon, Aradia performs in Toronto, throughout Canada and tours internationally. We also have a major recording contract with Naxos Records, have made music videos and appeared on film soundtracks.
The Aradia Ensemble plays on period instruments, and modelling itself on similar groups in Europe has a varying format to fit the occasion. Our range of projects is diverse from a single string group and harpsichord, with Kevin leading from the violin, perhaps adding a quartet of singers to larger projects with Kevin conducting full orchestra and full choir. We have performed baroque opera with baroque dancers, have collaborated with actors, modern dancers, Irish musicians and even Gamelan! Aradia has also commissioned new works for baroque ensemble.
Outreach and education projects are high on our list of priorities and on occasion we even have a modern instrument manifestation: The Toronto Chamber Orchestra is Aradia on modern instruments. The TCO also does concerts and has made many recordings.
