March 2002:  Opera-in-Concert's production of Semele
(St. Lawrence Centre, Toronto)
The intense and rarely performed oratorio is based on the Greek myth of the seduction of the mortal Semele by Jupiter, King of the Gods and Lord of Thunder. Handel expert Winton Dean believes Semele "contains some of the most eloquent love music ever written."
